German and Dutch artillery finally arrives in Ukraine

All twelve Panzerhaubitzen 2000 self-propelled artillery systems pledged by Germany and the Netherlands have arrived in Ukraine, the German Defense Ministry said in a Twitter post on June 22.

“12 German and Dutch Panzerhaubitzen 2000 have arrived in Ukraine, along with fully-trained Ukrainian soldiers,” the ministry quoted German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht as saying.

The message also reiterated Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine with necessary security assistance.

Earlier, Germany pledged seven such howitzers to Ukraine, and the Netherlands – five.

According to Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak, Ukraine needs 1,000 155mm artillery systems, 300 MLRSs, and 500 tanks to end the war. Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hannah Malyar earlier said that Western partners have so far given Ukraine only 10% of the weapons it needs.
