Russian puppets postpone illegal referendum in Kherson Oblast

Russian proxies in Kherson Oblast are “pausing” preparations for a so-called “referendum,” citing the deteriorating conditions in the region which is the scene of a Ukrainian counteroffensive, Russian propaganda agency TASS reported on Sep. 5.

The report quotes pro-Russian collaborator Kyrylo Stremousov, saying that the “security situation” in the region is unstable, as Russian troops have failed to secure their hold on Ukrainian territories in Kherson Oblast.

“We were getting ready to hold the referendum in the coming days, but given all the events that are unfolding, I think we’ll put it on hold for now, ”said Stremousov, having fled to Russia’s Voronezh as soon as Ukraine commenced its southern counteroffensive on Aug. 29.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to send firepower towards key bridges across the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast, preventing Moscow from reinforcing and resupplying its forces on Dnipro’s western bank, fac-ing a Ukrainian counteroffensive.

While Ukraine’s General Staff remains generally tight-lipped on the details of the long-anticipated operation, recent announcements indicated a number of settlements in the region were liberated, including strategically significant Vysokopillia.

Ukrainian guerrillas and partisans continue to hunt down Moscow’s puppet“officials” in occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
