Russia's war in Ukraine kills 227, wounds over 420 children, prosecutors say
Some 227 children have been killed and over 420 wounded since the
beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian Prosecutor
General's Office said in a Telegram post on May 14.
The Office stressed that these figures are far from final as more reports are coming from areas of ongoing hostilities, the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
In particular, 139 children were affected in Donetsk Oblast, 116 in Kyiv Oblast, 99 in Kharkiv Oblast, 68 in Chernihiv Oblast, 48 in Kherson Oblast, 45 in Luhansk Oblast, 44 in Mykolaiv Oblast, 28 in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, 17 in Sumy Oblast, 16 in the city of Kyiv, and 15 in Zhytomyr Oblast.
The Office also reported on the latest case of the child's death.
On May 12, a 12-year-old boy died in a healthcare facility after being seriously wounded on May 1 during the shelling of the town of Popasna in Luhansk Oblast.
