MH17 Court Finally Renders Judgement, Evidence of Torture Uncovered in Recently-Liberated Kherson
One of Russia’s first crimes of the war shooting down Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 over the skies of Eastern Ukraine on July 18, 2014, with a Buk missile system. They killed 298 people in that incident, most of them Dutch. After years of investigations and hearings, a Dutch court has finally found three of the commanders in charge of the attack guilty of the crime and sentenced them to life in prison in absentia. This includes Igor Girkin.
As the Ukrainian military secures the territory it liberated in Kherson Oblast, they are discovering what everyone expected they would discover. Like everywhere else the Russians have occupied, they set up numerous torture chambers in order to terrorize the local population.
Putin’s viceroy over Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has announced that the Chechen authorities will be taking teenagers from Donbas and putting them through a re-education program. The abduction of minors has been one of Russia’s chief instruments of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
A team of Ukrainian investigators have arrived at the site of the missile crash that killed two people in a border town in Poland. The prevailing theory is that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile that veered off course while trying to intercept part of Tuesday’s massive wave of 100 Russian missile strikes.
Many of this weeks Russian missile attacks appear to have been targeted at weakening Ukraine’s nuclear power infrastructure, especially around Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant. Russia’s current strategy has been to destroy electricity generation more generally and they have been behaving extremely hazardously at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Much of the ammunition and other supplies used by the Ukrainian military has come out of American stockpiles, but it appears that the stockpile for some necessary supplies is running low. Of particular concern are Stinger anti-air missiles and 155mm artillery shells. While America is increasing production, part of its agreements with other countries to supply Ukraine is that America will fill their stockpiles as well.
