“Russia’s war in Ukraine isn’t going as Moscow planned; it (Russia) failed to take Kyiv; they are retreating from around Kharkiv, their major Donbas offensive has stalled,” said Stoltenberg.

“Russia isn’t meeting its strategic goals.”

Asserting that “Ukraine can win,” the secretary urged NATO members to continue their military assistance to Kyiv.

“Ukrainians are courageously defending their homeland; to aid them, (NATO) allies have provided Ukraine with billions in security assistance,” NATO chief added.

Alliance members have reiterated their enduring commitment to Ukraine’s cause and to “further bolster NATO’s ability to contain long-term consequences of the war, including our (NATO’s) future stance towards Russia,” said Stoltenberg.

Top diplomats from NATO member states are meeting in Berlin, Germany on May 15.
