No applications for Ukraine visa from Russia since introduction of visa regime, says FM Kuleba

Not a single Russian has applied for a Ukrainian visa since they were introduced at the beginning of July, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Ukrainian national television on July 7.

"It's a very telling moment — during the seven days of the visa regime in the entire multimillion-strong Russia, not a single citizen happened to apply for a Ukrainian visa," Kuleba said.

He added that during this period, Russians made more than 100 calls to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy with a request to clarify the entry rules. Kuleba believes that this situation shows changes in relations between Russia and Ukraine after the start of full-scale aggression by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

"This is a historic moment that will demonstrate the level to which Putin's aggression has brought relations between our peoples, and it also demonstrates the true attitude of Russians towards Ukrainians," Kuleba stated.

Citizens of the Russian Federation have not been able to enter the territory of Ukraine without obtaining a visa since July 1. The State Border Guard Service also notes that having a visa does not guarantee Russians unimpeded entry.
