Ukrainian Army launches strikes on Antonivskyi, Kakhovka bridges, enemy ammo depots

The Ukrainian military has launched fresh strikes on the Antonivskyi and Kakhovka bridges and enemy bases in Kherson Oblast, head of the joint coordination press center of the South Operational Command Natalia Humeniuk said on Ukrainian national television on August 8.

“The fire control that we’ve been conducting for several days in this area has worked out,” she said.

“It has produced results, we’ve had hits, quite significant ones, on both the Antonivskyi and Kakhovka bridges.”

The Kakhovka bridge crosses the Dnipro River about 60 kilometers to the east of the city of Kherson. The two Antonivskyi bridges, a road and a railway one, are about 9 kilometers and 15 kilometers to the north and east of the city of Kherson respectively. They are the only bridges across the Dnipro downstream of the Ukrainian-held city of Zaporizhzhya.

Humeniuk also spoke about the destruction of enemy ammunition depots in the south of Ukraine.

“We’re clarifying which of the results are ours, because we know that the resistance movement in the occupied territories is quite powerful,” she said.

According to Humeniuk, the work of the guerrillas and the Ukrainian army strikes on enemy positions are significantly undermining enemy morale, and affecting the combat capability of the invaders.

“There is a lack of ammunition, a lack of equipment, which is just delivered, and then it disappears again, and losses of personnel, which the enemy already lacks,” she said.

“We observe that they are bringing up forces and equipment, but they’re having to 'patch holes' with these reserves.”
