Average price of farmland in Ukraine exceeds $1,430 per ha

From Feb. 24, 2022, to date, 41,979 transactions have been concluded on the land market in Ukraine, which covers an area of 77,668 hectares, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported on Jan. 2.

The average price of one hectare (which is equivalent to 2.47 acres) of land in Ukraine stands at UAH 52,462, or $1,435 at the NBU’s official forex rate set at UAH 36.57 per US dollar as of Jan.3. This is 38% more than in November and 47% more than in the same period of the previous year. The price of one hectare of land in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, which tops the land price rating, is UAH 292,700, or $8,004.

For the entire period of functioning of the land market, 142,945 land transactions were concluded on an area of 322,194 hectares.

The most active regions (in terms of the area of land for which transactions have been registered) are Khmelnytskyi Oblast (8,100 hectares); Vinnytsia Oblast (8,000 hectares); Poltava Oblast (8,000 hectares); Kirovohrad Oblast (7,800 hectares); Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (7,600 hectares), the agency said.

In the past two weeks, 5,389 transactions were concluded within the land market on an area of more than 11,000 hectares.

Most plots were traded in:

  • Kharkiv Oblast (39,500 hectares);
  • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (29,000 hectares);
  • Poltava Oblast (26,300 hectares);
  • Kirovohrad Oblast (26,100 hectares);
  • Kherson Oblast (21,000 hectares).
