FC Shakhtar paid more taxes in Q1 than entire previous year

Famed Donetsk football club Shakhtar paid more taxes in the first quarter of 2023 than in all of 2022, according to a tax report published on the club’s website on May 19.
Reportedly, the club paid 284 million UAH ($7.7 million) into the Ukrainian budget in the first quarter of 2023.
“The primary source of income was the January transfer of Shakhtar player Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea in London,” the club’s statement reads.
It was previously reported that Mudryk’s transfer cost Chelsea 100 million EUR ($108 million).
Earlier, Shakhtar announced that it paid 213 million 718 thousand UAH ($5.8 million) in taxes for the year 2022.
