Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joins Kyivstar board
Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike R.
Pompeo has joined the board of directors of Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar,
a subsidiary of VEON, as an independent non-executive director, the company's
press service announced on Nov. 14.
Pompeo is joining as a partner at the newly founded U.S. strategic and financial consulting and investment firm Impact Investments, which aims to develop long-term partnerships with leading global companies across various industries and regions.
Additionally, VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu has been appointed chairman of the Kyivstar board of directors.
Pompeo served as the 70th U.S. Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021 and as the sixth director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2017 to 2018.
It was previously reported that Kyivstar plans to invest up to $10 million in Ukraine’s digital healthcare management service Helsi.
