France will help Ukraine turn the exclusion zone around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant into a scientific hub, Ukrinform quoted Ecology Minister, Ruslan Strilets, as saying on April 26.

“Recently, while participating in a UN conference, I met with my colleague from France,” he said while visiting the exclusion zone.

“We agreed that France would help develop a scientific hub in the exclusion zone. Because I’m sure that right now, right during the war and right at the time when there is a fact of violation of a peaceful atom that has been resting for many years, we can conduct research that can’t be done anywhere else in the world.”

Russia’s invasion gave the impetus to study the peaceful atom and transform the Chornobyl exclusion zone into a scientific hub.

“I invite everyone to come here and understand that this is a zone where we can build the future,” the Ukrainian minister said.

“I wish that the exclusion zone really had a scientific hub. This is the task I set a year ago, and today a lot of work is being done on it.”
