An airline subsidiary of Nova Poshta, one of Ukraine’s largest postal services, has completed its inaugural flight on the Riga-Jędrzejów-Riga route this week, the company said in a press release on May 19.
The airline, Supernova Airlines, successfully transported 7 tons of international parcels for Nova Poshta from Riga International Airport to Jędrzejów, Poland. Subsequently, the parcels were transferred to trucks and sent to Ukraine.
The flight was conducted in cooperation with Latvian airline RAF-Avia, utilizing an ATR 72 aircraft. Supernova Airlines plans to operate two flights per week on this route, scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Previously, it was announced that Nova Poshta will launch cargo flights using its own airline fleet, with routes connecting Riga and Jędrzejów, as well as Jędrzejów and Chișinău.
Established in 2021, Supernova Airlines became the first Ukrainian company to receive an operator’s certificate during the full-scale war in January 2023. The airline continues to complete all necessary procedures for regular cargo flights to and from the European Union, where its aircraft are currently based due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace.
