Ukraine has already seized Russian assets worth UAH 28 billion ($754 million), President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address published on Aug. 5.
"I held a meeting today regarding the sanctions policy for the confiscation of Russian assets,” the President announced.
“As officials reported, assets worth 28 billion hryvnias have already been forcibly seized in Ukraine, and this work continues.”
Zelenskyy also noted proposals have been made for the seizure of an additional 900-plus assets that allegedly belong to Russia or Russian nationals.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft presidential decree on the confiscation of 903 assets belonging to the Russian state.
In May, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is offering its partners an agreement on the payment of compensation to victims of Russian aggression from confiscated or frozen funds of the aggressor country. He emphasized that Kyiv is working to ensure that Russia compensates for everything destroyed in Ukraine.
