Hero of Ukraine and the owner of the Nibulon company, the country's largest grain trader, Oleksiy Vadaturskyi, was killed during the mass Russian shelling of the Black Sea city of Mykolaiv on the night of July 31, European Business Association has reported.
According to the Ukrainian news outlet Ukrainska Pravda, citing a source close to Mykolaiv regional authorities, a Russian projectile hit Vadaturskyi's house. His wife also perished in the strike, UP added.
"It's true. Their house was struck. His wife's body has already been extracted," UP's source said.
Oleksiy Vadaturskyi was born on September 8, 1947 in Odesa. In 1991, he founded and has since held the position of CEO at Nibulon, one of Ukraine’s largest grain producers. He also invested a lot into the revival of Ukraine's river transportation industry and restored the local shipyard in Mykolayiv.
Russia had imposed sanctions against Vadaturskyi.
Previously, reports stated that one more person was killed and two others had been injured in the attack.
