Polish oil refining company PKN Orlen will demand compensation from Russia's Tatneft after oil deliveries via the Druzhba pipeline have been suspended, CEO of Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, announced on March 6, as reported by Reuters.

“The Russians have stopped pumping oil to Poland,” said Obajtek.

He declined to specify how much Orlen will seek to get from Tatneft in the lawsuit, saying he could not discuss the details of the contracts.

“Now we will sue and demand damages,” the CEO concluded.

Earlier, Obajtek reported that on Feb. 25, Russia has stopped the delivery of crude oil to Orlen refineries through the Druzhba pipeline.

PKN Orlen imported about 200,000 tons of oil monthly under a contract with Russian Tatneft, which was due to expire in December 2024. Russian deliveries make up 10% of the Polish market.
