A thermal power plant belonging to Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK Energy was hit by Russian invaders’ shelling for the third time in a month on May 15, according to a company statement on Telegram posted on May 16.
“The attack caused damage to the power plant equipment. Following the cessation of shelling, our energy personnel began the process of mitigating its consequences,” the company said.
DTEK confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the attack. It did not name the power plant that was attacked.
The company said that this marks the third attack on its generating facilities since the beginning of May, with a total of 33 attacks on DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants being carried out by Russia since September of last year.
Earlier, DTEK had disclosed information on when Ukrainians can expect further blackouts, as the country’s energy system will enter the next heating season with significantly reduced reserves of capacity.
