Preparing to resume operations in Ukraine after the war, Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is hiring pilots and flight attendants in the country, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary told Reuters on Jan. 30.

According to O’Leary, the company is “very committed” to return to Ukraine as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“We are hiring quite a number of Ukraine pilots and cabin crew specifically so that we can ... restore bases in Ukraine if and when it is safe to do so,” the report quotes the CEO.

Weeks before Russia’s invasion in February 2022, Ryanair said it intended to continue operating in Ukraine “until missiles start flying.”
