Ukraine declares Mondelez international — makers of Milka and Oreo — sponsor of war

Ukraine’s National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has declared U.S. Mondelez International company an international sponsor of war, the agency reported on Telegram on May 25.
The company has been listed since it continued operations in Russia after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, NACP said.
“The company’s interests, which has an annual income of about $26 billion and operates in 160 countries of the world, is represented on the Russian market by Mondelis Rus LLC, which has three factories: the Bolshevik factory (which produces such cookies as Yubileinoe, OREO, Medvezhonok [Bear] Barney, and TUC crackers); production in Pokrov (Alpen Gold, Vozdushny (Aero), Milka chocolate, and Picnic bar), and the factory in Veliky Novgorod (Dirol chewing gum and Halls cough drops),” the report says.
The agency added that the company is the leader in the confectionery market in the categories of chocolate, chocolate candies ,and biscuits, and ranks second in chewing gums and caramels.
Mondelez’s Russian branch increased its profit in 2022 by 303%, to $339 million. The company’s revenue amounted to more than $1 billion (+38% for the year).
Mondelez replenished the aggressor’s budget by more than $61 million in taxes.
The Mondelez, Nestle, and PepsiCo companies were criticized by their employees in Eastern Europe in April 2022 due to their decision to continue operations in Russia.
