Ukraine receives funding from Eurocontrol to prepare for opening its airspace

Ukraine’s state air traffic operator Ukraerorukh
has received a second financing tranche from the Solidarity Aviation Fund,
Infrastructure Ministry announced via Facebook on April 25.
The Solidarity Aviation Fund was established by Ukraine and Eurocontrol (the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation) in late 2022. The first tranche was received by Ukraerorukh in February 2023.
The most recent funds influx was unlocked after Ernst & Young completed an external audit of Ukraerorukh.
"Conducting assessments and audits is a condition for the implementation of the Solidarity Fund – in accordance with the agreement between Ukraine and Eurocontrol," the ministry said.
The money will be used to train Ukraerorukh’s personnel and maintain their qualifications.
Earlier, Ukraerorukh reported that Ukraine would immediately open its airspace once active combat operations end. The operator emphasized that Ukraine is preparing to resume flights in its airspace and has already developed a corresponding plan.
