Ukraine’s SBU charges head of Russia’s Promsvyazbank

Ukraine’s SBU security service has served the CEO of Russia’s Promsvyazbank Petr Fradkov with charge papers, the agency reported on Feb. 16.
The SBU said it has built an evidence base against Fradkov. He is charged under Part 3 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code over the involvement in the creation of a ruble zone in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
In particular, Promsvyazbank continues to open its branches on the basis of Ukrainian banks captured by the Russians.
Fradkov himself coordinates the activities of the occupying authorities in blocking the circulation of the Ukrainian currency, the hryvnia.
To this end, the Russians have banned electronic transactions and cash payments in hryvnias in the occupied territories, as well as making it impossible to collect the Ukrainian currency.
The charges Fradkov is facing foresee a sentence of life imprisonment if he is found guilty.
