The Ukrainian government has prepared a plan to reorganize its defense manufacturers into a new joint stock company Ukrainian Defense Industries (UDI), news agency Interfax-Ukraine reported on Nov. 10.
Ukraine’s National Securities and Exchange Commission has already approved the plan, which would see UDI succeed and replace the existing Ukroboronprom state enterprise.
The government will control 100% shares of the new conglomerate.
In December 2021, the government decided to turn Ukroboronprom into a joint-stock company, and agreed to rearrange its 43 subsidiaries into enterprises under complete state control.
Head of Ukroboronprom Yurii Gusev pointed out in October 2021, that this will help restructure Ukraine’s defense sector, as some companies involved remain in Russia-controlled territory.
