Ukrainian oil enterprise Ukrnafta will begin direct purchases of gasoline and diesel fuel from Orlen – Poland’s biggest oil refining company, General Director of Ukrnafta, Serhiy Koretsky, said in a Facebook post on March 8.

“At the same time, Ukrnafta is negotiating (crude) oil exports with Orlen,” Koretsky added.

According to him, this would allow Ukrnafta to supply Ukraine’s domestic market with fuel at most favorable prices and free up space in underground storage facilities for future oil production.

“Hopefully, I will soon be able to share good news on this matter,” Koretsky summed up.

In 2021, Ukrainian news agency Interfax-Ukraine reported that Orlen was planning to enter Ukrainian light oil retail market.

Last year, large stakes in Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta were transferred into state ownership, with Koretsky heading both enterprises.

PKN Orlen is the largest Polish company dealing in oil refining and distribution of fuels and lubricant – both in bulk and through its own network of petrol stations. 49.9% of Orlen’s shares belong to the state.
