The second richest Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin and his family members were added to the U.S. Treasury Department SDN list, which freezes their assets and prohibits U.S. entities from transacting with them, the department said in a message on its website on Dec. 15.

Sanctions include the oligarch’s assets – Interros holding, Rosbank commercial bank, and a yacht. Through Interros, Potanin owns Norilsk Nickel, as well as Rosbank, which the oligarch bought out in the spring from the French multinational Société Générale after it left Russia.

Besides Potanin, Washington also sanctioned Russian First Deputy PM Andrei Belousov, Deputy PM Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov, several Russian governors, and head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov.
