The United States is working to prevent the sale of grain that the Russians stole from the occupied territories of Ukraine, according to a statement made by White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre on June 13.

“We are working with other countries to prevent the sale of grain, which was most likely stolen in Ukraine,” she said.

Karine Jean-Pierre noted that back in May, the United States sent letters to 14 countries warning that Russia might try to sell stolen Ukrainian grain.

The UN said that due to the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, 25 million tons of unsold grain are now stuck in Ukraine.

At the end of May, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the invaders had already stolen at least half a million tons of grain from Ukraine and were looking for ways to sell it.

The actions of the Russian Federation have raised the risk of starvation in Africa, Asia and some European countries.
