Oscar winner, Hollywood star of the
films “Mystic River” and “Milk”, actor and director Sean Penn has travelled to
the western Ukrainian city of Lviv to support refugees in the city and the
region.
The Hollywood actor's charity will
purchase and deliver humanitarian supplies for the city, Head of Lviv Regional
Military Administration Maksym Kozytsky said in a statement
“Ukraine's resilience is an example for the whole world, Sean Penn noted during our meeting," Kozytskiy wrote.
“(Penn’s) organization wishes to
support our people in their struggle for freedom and sovereignty. Until now, we
have not had the proper support from international humanitarian organizations,
in particular from the International Committee of the Red Cross. I hope for fruitful
cooperation with Sean Penn's organization, for the benefit of people who value
freedom.”
A few days ago, Penn signed an
agreement with the Mayor of Krakow to jointly help Ukrainian refugees.
In addition, he called for a boycott
of the 2022 Oscars if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not allowed to
speak at the ceremony.
