Ukrainian band KALUSH, the winner of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, and Ukrainian singer Jerry Heil (Yana Shemayeva) released a joint song called Stiny (Walls) on May 19, which is dedicated to Ukraine’s victory in the war against Russia.

In this song, Heil performs a verse on behalf of a young man. According to the singer, this was done to emphasize the contrast between herself and the young men fighting to defend Ukraine.

“The first performance of the chorus is puzzling: ‘I won’t return in the spring,’” she said.

“Did the guy die? But since his image is a symbol of my indomitable people in the song, there is an explanation in the second chorus: ‘I’ll come back and it will snow,’ and ‘I’ll come back as the scythes touch the stems’ in the epilogue. That is, he will stand and bring victory home in the summer, and snow will fall as a symbol of a miracle.”

Heil added that she was comfortable working with KALUSH, since she’s impressed by the group’s spirit and talent.

“We believe in an early victory for Ukraine!” said KALUSH frontman Oleh Psyuk.

“And our next song will definitely be about it. Today, we want to sing our song Stiny with Jerry, which, we hope, will become the mantra of our victory by this summer.”
