After spending UAH 50 ($1.37) and failing to “win” any prizes from a claw machine in Melnytsia-Podilska, Ternopil Oblast, a man broke into the machine and gave out stuffed toys to nearby children. He was then acquitted in court on July 22.

According to him, he saw a group of children trying – and failing – to win stuffed toys in a claw machine. The man decided to help them out, and spent UAH 50 doing so. With nothing to show for himself, he then broke the machine, and gave the toys to the children.

The man is said to have plundered 24 stuffed toys, worth UAH 4,310 ($117). He was eventually acquitted by a local court, as he had “no self-interest in the crime,” according to the court decision.
