The manager of UAE-based Al Ain FC, Serhiy Rebrov, will officially take over at the helm of the Ukrainian national football team by the end of next week, YouTube project TaToTake reported on Facebook on May 19.
According to their source, the Ukrainian national team has also decided on Rebrov's assistants.
Vicente Gomez will be his senior assistant, while Alberto Bosch and Hlib Platov will serve as assistants. At the same time, Platov will retain his part-time position as technical director of the Ukrainian top-tier club and current title contender Dnipro-1.
Rustam Khudzhamov is likely to be the goalkeeping coach, but this position has not yet been finalized.
An agreement will be signed with the former Dynamo Kyiv star and his coaching staff to span the Euro 2024 and 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The contract can be extended for two more cycles - up to and including the 2030 World Cup.
Currently, Ruslan Rotan, who led the team in the opening match of the Euro 2024 qualifier against England (0:2), is the acting head coach of the Ukrainian national team.
Earlier, NV reported that Rebrov would join the national side ahead of the June Euro 2024 qualifiers, and the president of the Ukrainian Football Association, Andriy Pavelko, confirmed talks with the former Dynamo Kyiv manager.
There was also information that Rebrov could combine his work with the Ukrainian national team and Al Ain.
