Paramedic-volunteer of the National Guard of Ukraine Kateryna Polishchuk, who has the military call sign “Ptashka” (“bird” in English) has made a surprise appearance on Sofiivska Square, where she sang the patriotic Ukrainian song “Oi U Luzi Chervona Kalyna.”

A video of Polishchuk’s performance was published on the TSN YouTube channel on Jan. 1.

After performing the famous war song, passers-by started approaching Polishchuk to hug her. Many of them could barely hold back tears during their meeting with the Ukrainian defender.

In the comments on Ptashka’s video, other Ukrainians also said that she had moved them with her singing.
