Fashion magazine Elle Russia got into a scandal due to a biased article about the arrival of the Hollywood actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie to Lviv.

“Angelina Jolie with a backpack and tracksuit trousers is ordering a coffee somewhere nearby,” the headline of the news on the Elle Russia website says.

The article says that Angelina Jolie “arrived in Ukraine as part of a special UN mission.” But, according to UN spokesperson Matt Saltmarsh, Jolie's visit to Ukraine is a personal initiative of the actress. It is also stated that Jolie “wanted to keep the visit a secret.”

While in Lviv, Jolie talked with refugees, visited the railway station, where she met passengers of the evacuation train from Pokrovsk, and also visited children who had suffered from a missile strike by Russian invaders on the station in Kramatorsk.

Social media users, including Ukrainian celebrities, shamed the editorial office of the beauty magazine and suggested that journalists were forbidden to use the word Ukraine.

“What are you embarrassed to write, that exactly in Ukraine, in Lviv? Glory to Ukraine”,

“Tell the truth or be silent”,

“Ukraine is called Ukraine. All civilized people support this wonderful country. Are you afraid to write this word? Or are you looking for Chornobaivka? ” Ukrainians write.
