Santa Claus has been spotted in the skies over Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Dec. 24.

The Air Force congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas and stated that Santa Claus is guaranteed a safe flight.

Christmas Eve is celebrated on Dec. 24 by those countries culturally influenced more by Catholic Christianity, and traditionally on Jan. 7 for countries more influenced by Orthodox Christianity. This year, however, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has allowed believers to celebrate Christmas on Dec. 25.

At the end of November 2022, the Rating sociological research group conducted a survey on the attitude of Ukrainians to the idea of moving the date of Christmas.

Over the past year, the number of those who celebrate Christmas only on Dec. 25 (from 4% to 11%) and those who celebrate it on both dates (from 18% to 25%) has increased.
