A few competitors were personally invited to take part by the contest’s organizing committee, such as singers Anna Trincher and LAUD.

However, Trincher turned down the offer, while LAUD has not yet announced his decision.

The committee will now check to ensure that all applicants are in compliance with Ukrainian law - specifically, to ensure that they have not performed in Russia, Belarus, or the non-government-controlled and Russian occupied parts of Ukraine.

The Eurovision Song Contest will this year be held in Turin, Italy, following Italy’s Eurovision win in 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with song Zitti E Buoni by Måneskin.

Italy has twice previously hosted the Eurovision Song Contest – in 1965 and 1991.

The first and second semi-finals of the international competition will be held on May 10 and May 12, and the final will take place on May 14.

Forty-one countries will take part in the 2022 competition as Armenia is to return after a one-year hiatus, and Montenegro after a two-year break.
