Three Ukrainian higher education institutions have won places in the top 100 best universities of emerging countries of Europe and Central Asia for 2022, Ukraine’s Education Ministry said in a statement published on Dec. 16.
The list ranks the 450 best higher education institutions, including 41 from Ukraine.
Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv took 35th place in 2022 (33rd in 2021). The National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" is 63rd in the 2022 ranking (66th in 2021), and Vasyl Karazin Kharkiv National University is in 69th place in 2022 (67th in 2021).
The ranking was compiled by the Global Research and Development Consulting Center QS Quacquarelli Symonds.
Compared to last year, the number of Ukrainian medical facilities in the rating increased from 25 to 41, 16 of which were on the list for the first time. At the same time, seven universities retained their positions.
While evaluating the universities’ performances for their annual the Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings for 2022, QS Quacquarelli Symonds specialists took several factors into account: the academic reputation of an educational institution, its reputation among employers, the ratio of the number of teachers to students, the number of publications per teacher and employee, the number of citations per publication, the proportion of foreign faculty and staff, the proportion of foreign students, the proportion of faculty and staff with a PhD, the depth of international scientific collaborations, and the presence of the institution online.
