Britain confirmed to host Eurovision 2023 instead of Ukraine

The International Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be held in the United Kingdom instead of Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union and the BBC confirmed on July 25. Ukraine, winner of the 2022 contest, will still take part in the organization of the event.

The BBC will take over the responsibilities as the organizer of the event, and the competition for which UK city will have the right to host Eurovisionwill kick off this week.

Ukraine, as the winning country, will automatically proceed to the Grand Final together with the "Big 5" of the competition's organizing countries, according to an official statement by the European Broadcasting Union.

Representatives from the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine will work on the show, which will feature Ukrainian elements.

It is also reported that a logo will be created for the Eurovision Song Con-test 2023 that will reflect the unique circumstances of the contest.

Previously, in connection with the ongoing full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union decided to move the 2023 competition from Ukraine to Britain, as the runner-up in 2022.

At Eurovision 2022, the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won with the song Stefania. British singer Sam Ryder finished second with the song Space Man.

The United Kingdom will host the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 24 years.
