Ukraine bags first team medal at Freestyle Skiing World Cup

The Ukrainian national team won bronze in mixed team aerials in the final of the Freestyle Skiing World Cup on Feb. 19 – the country’s first ever medal in the team competitions at the event.

The Ukrainian team consisted of Anastasia Novosad, Oleksandr Okipnyuk and Dmytro Kotovskyi.

The Ukrainians beat Kazakhstan and Canada to the podium, but lost out to the contenders from the United States and China. The points scored by the top-five teams were as follows:

  1. USA - 338.98
  2. China - 328.14
  3. Ukraine - 260.57
  4. Kazakhstan - 236.33
  5. Canada - 228.17

This is the first ever team medal for Ukraine at the world championships. Previously, in individual competitions, Oleksandr Abramenko was a silver medalist in 2019, and Olha Volkova took bronze in 2011.
