Ukrainian popular singer Monatik will give a big charity concert called ART Oborona (Defense) in the capital city of Kyiv on Aug. 23, the day before Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The performance will take place on the Osocor Residence stage, where another Ukrainian singer Andriy Danylko, best-known as pop star drag persona Verka Serdyuchka, previously held a charity concert that collected UAH 184,000 ($5,000).

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Monatik and his team have been volunteering and collecting humanitarian aid for the army.

He also released the EP ArtOborona album, in which he expressed his feelings about the full-scale invasion. The proceeds from the album will be sent to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The most important thing today is not to lose hope,” Monatik said ahead of the upcoming performance.

“So I hope that ART Oborona won’t be extended and the war will soon disappear from Ukraine. And this music will be able to distract, inspire, and remind.”

Monatik gave a concert in the Kyiv Metro in July, which was his first performance in Ukraine after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
