Ukrainian swimmer wins gold at European Championships

Ukrainian swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk won the 1,500 m freestyle at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships on Aug. 16.

At the start of the swim, the Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri was in the lead, but later Romanchuk overtook him and came first, ahead of the silver medalist by 3 seconds.

Damien Joly from France finished third, 15 seconds behind the Ukrainian champion.

The European Aquatics Championships is held in Rome from Aug. 11 to 21, with the swimming competition ending on Aug. 17.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine's national artistic swimming team took first place in the medal tally at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome.
