Ukrainian tennis star Dayana Yastremska couldn’t stay silent after Russian missiles hit her hometown of Odesa overnight on July 19.

The world No. 149 player appealed on Instagram to the WTA and ITF to treat athletes from the aggressor country with the contempt they deserve.

“WTA and ITF – look at my stories or maybe you want to see a live video or visit Ukraine? Maybe then you will change your opinion about Russia?”, she wrote.

“Someone is sleeping very well right now, and you know who I mean. And someone is trying to survive. Or like all Ukrainian tennis players who can’t sleep during tournaments because they follow the news. Is that fair?”

Several air raid alerts were sounded in Ukraine overnight on July 19. In several waves of attacks, Russian invaders hit Ukraine with Kh-22, Kh-59, Kalibr, and Onyx missiles, as well as Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones.
