Ukraine received its inaugural shipment of 122mm fragmentation-explosive artillery munitions, jointly manufactured in collaboration with a prominent Eastern European defense consortium, private military-industrial firm UKRAINIAN ARMOR reported on Facebook on Aug. 25.
This initial delivery marks the
introduction of the first “thousand” units of these munitions to Ukraine’s
arsenal. Their production was achieved by amalgamating component manufacturers
from multiple European countries.
The 122mm artillery shells are designed for
employment with the D-30 and 2S1 Gvozdika artillery systems. These
fragmentation-explosive projectiles demonstrate effectiveness in engaging enemy
positions, defensive lines, and armored vehicles, the company says.
“We will continue to supply thousands of
such rounds to our defenders,” UKRAINIAN ARMOR stated.
“Ensuring our artillery personnel are equipped
with these munitions is a key factor in the success of our counteroffensive.”
Back in March, Ukraine’s state-owned
defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom announced the establishment of production
for a third variant of 122mm artillery munitions. Furthermore, Ukroboronprom
has initiated the full-scale manufacturing of fragmentation mines in a NATO
member state.
