Ukrainian law enforcement officials have uncovered bodies of 111 civilians and 35 Ukrainian soldiers buried across several locations in Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, National Police said in a message on its website on Oct. 20.

In total, 166 people were found buried in recently-liberated settlements in northern Donetsk Oblast – including five children. The victims were buried across 58 makeshift grave sites, 25 of them in Lyman alone. However, the police continue to receive daily reports from local residents about buried and missing persons.

According to a preliminary investigation, people died from explosive and shrapnel wounds as a result of shelling by Russian troops, as well as from other acts of violence. More accurate report will be published after thorough forensic examinations are completed and the victims are identified.
