The Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated 29 settlements in Kherson Oblast since Oct. 1, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Hromov said at a briefing on Oct. 6.
At the same time, he noted that Russian troops are trying to counterattack in the Kherson sector using their reserves to deter the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive and regain control over the lost territories.
He also stated that the invading Russian forces on the Kherson axis continue to shell settlements in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
Earlier, Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian military’s Operational Command South, reported that since the beginning of October, the Defense Forces of Ukraine had liberated more than 400 square kilometers of Kherson Oblast.
In his evening address on Oct. 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing rapidly in the south as part of an ongoing liberation operation, and this week alone, dozens of settlements in Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk oblasts were liberated from the occupiers' sham “referendums”
