34,000 Ukrainians diagnosed with COVID-19 amid on-going Omicron surge
Over the past day, 34,353 Ukrainians have been diagnosed with COVID-19, a total of 255 deaths were recorded, and 15,193 patients recovered from the disease, according to official data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Health as of the morning of Feb. 8.
The daily rate of COVID-19 infection traditionally sees a dramatic increase after declining over the weekend. A day earlier, on Feb. 7, 23,378 Ukrainians were reported to have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, amid the on-going surge of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in Europe.
Over the course of the pandemic, a total of 4,341,790 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ukraine, of whom 3,696,285 have recovered, and 101,647 have died.

No data is available for the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the non-government-controlled parts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, and Sevastopol.
An adaptive quarantine is in effect in the country until the end of March 2022, dividing Ukraine into colored zones that represent the impact of the coronavirus on the region.
Ivano-Frankivsk and Rivne Oblasts are in the red zone, while all other regions are currently in the yellow or orange zones.
Over 30 million coronavirus vaccination doses have been administered, and nearly 14 million people have received two doses, with more than 400,000 people having had a booster dose.
