Four people have been killed and five others injured in Kharkiv and the oblast over the past day as a result of shelling by the Russian invaders, regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported via Telegram messenger on July 1.

"The terror of the population of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv Oblast by the Russian occupiers continues," the official said.

During the day, Russian forces shelled Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi neighborhood. At night, the invaders launched a rocket attack from the Russian city of Belgorod onto the city’s Industrialnyi neighborhood. Industrial buildings were damaged, though rescuers were able to extinguishe the fire.

In Kharkiv Oblast, during the day, the invaders opened fire on populated areas of the Izyum, Kharkiv, Bohdukhiv, and Chuhuyiv districts. Residential houses, commercial buildings, and production facilities were damaged. Firefighters put out several fires.

Three people were killed in Izyum district as a result of the shelling, and two more were injured by explosions. One person was killed and one was injured in the Chuhuyiv district.

One person was hospitalized in Kharkiv and one in the Kharkiv district.

Active hostilities continue on the territory of Kharkiv Oblast, where the Russian invaders are attempting to defend their occupied territories. Near the Russian-occupied town of Izyum, the invaders are regrouping and trying to improve their tactical position in order to continue their offensive towards Slovyansk in Donbas Oblast.
