Ukraine's positions have significantly improved in Zaporizhzhya Oblast after the country took delivery of Western weapons, Oleksandr Starukh, head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, said on Ukrainian national television on June 21.

According to Starukh, the military aid arrived a few weeks ago.

"The assistance of our Western partners came a few weeks ago and has significantly improved the position of our troops, because artillery duels are now one of the main forms of confrontation," he said.

Starukh added that the weapons, in particular high-precision artillery, had arrived just in time.

He noted that the Russian invaders no longer feel as free from retaliation as they used to when they launched heavy artillery strikes on settlements such as Orikhove and Komyshuvakha.

The commander of the Azov Regiment, Rodion Kudriashov, announced on June 20 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were switching from an active phase of defense to the offensive in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
