Ukraine's air defense forces intercepted two cruise missiles and a number of Iranian attack drones near Kyiv, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported on Telegram on Nov. 17.
"In the past hour our air defense downed two cruise missiles and one Shahed-136 suicide attack drone," the message reads.
In total, they destroyed four Russian Shahed-136 drones, including two over the Kyiv Dam.
In the morning of Nov. 17, only two days after Russia launched about 90 missiles in the largest missile attack on Ukraine so far, Russian forces shot another wave of missile strikes against Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa and Kharkiv obalsts.
Yuri Vlasenko, the Deputy Minister of Energy, said in an interview with Forbes magazine that Russia aims to completely stop Ukrainian nuclear plants from producing power.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the Khmelnytskyy Nuclear Power Plant (KhNPP) lost all access to the power grid, while the Rivne Nuclear Power (RNPP) lost connection to one of its 750 kV power lines following the mass strike. That connection has since been repaired.
