The Ukrainian military shot down a Su-24 bomber used by the Russian Wagner PMC near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, pro-Kremlin Telegram channels reported on Feb. 13.
It turned out that this was the same warplane from which Wagner’s founder Yevgeny Prigozhin recorded a ridiculous video challenging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to an air duel.
"Tomorrow I'm boarding a MiG-29," he boasted in his address.
“If you want, we will meet in the sky. If the day is yours, take Artemivsk (Bakhmut — under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — ed.). If not, we are going toward Dnipro.”
However, despite Prigozhin's bravado, his aircraft do not stay in the Ukrainian sky for long, and a week after the video was published, the Su-24 in which he was recorded was taken out of action by the Ukrainian army.
"Yes, indeed, this particular plane was attacked from the ground by enemy air defense systems," the Russian war criminal admitted, claiming that the pilot allegedly managed to land the burning bomber and it was now being repaired.
