Russian media on June 22 reported an airstrike on the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Rostov Oblast by what appears in video footage to be a kamikaze drone.

In the video, which has been posted widely on social networks, a drone can been seen approaching the refinery. It goes into a steep dive, hits the ground, and there is a powerful blast and fireball.

No casualties from the apparent airstrike have been reported yet.

The refinery was previously been controlled by the family of pro-Russian MP Viktor Medvedchuk, who is said to have been the closest political ally of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.

The refinery supplied oil products to pro-Kremlin terrorist organizations in the Donbas, for which it was put on the sanctions list of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.
