The government of Belarus has transferred at least 65,000 tons of ammunition of various types to Russia since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Belarusian watchdog Belaruski Hayun said in a Telegram post on Oct. 28.
According to the message, self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has sent 1,940 rail cars of ammo Russia’s way, from March through September.
“The maximum (amount of ammunition) was exported in April – 22,534 tons,” the message says.
“Russian forces brought in their own ammunition from Yelsk, Kozenok, Rechitsa, Khoiniki and Kalinkovichi. Then there was a slight decline, and since July the export rates have gone up again.”
The monitoring group also reports that in addition to ammunition, Lukashenko’s regime is transferring tanks and other equipment to Russia. According to them, only in the last few weeks, at least 94 T-72A tanks and 36 to 44 Urals trucks were transferred.
On Oct. 10, Lukashenko announced that Minsk and Moscow had agreed to deploy a regional “joint force group.” Lukashenko said that the armed forces of Belarus would form the core of the grouping. At the same time, he has ordered to receive and deploy “more than 1,000” Russian troops on the territory of the republic.
