Belarus is preparing to accommodate 20,000 newly mobilized conscripts from Russia, Ukrainian military intelligence HUR reported on Sept. 29.
According to the agency, they are expected to replenish the units of the Russian Armed Forces deployed in Belarus. As a result of this reinforcement, the ratio of "experienced" and "green" soldiers will be one to five, Ukrainian intelligence believes.
“They plan to use available military stock funds, as well as civilian premises and buildings for accommodation,” Ukrainian Defense Intelligence said.
“Warehouses, hangars, and other premises belonging to abandoned agricultural enterprises and farms will be provided for these purposes."
According to the agency, the Belarusian military and affected local councils have already been informed of their new “guests.”
HUR noted that after this reinforcement, the units will be equipped with material stored in Belarusian warehouses, as well as de-mothballed equipment from Russia, while the transport of this equipment will be conducted via mobilized civilian vehicles – due to a lack of military vehicles for this purpose.
The intelligence agency added that the Belarusian authorities have instructed law enforcement agencies to assist Russian soldiers in mobilizing Russian citizens who have recently entered the country.
