The border of Ukraine with Russia, Belarus, as well as a part of the border with Moldova in Transnistrian, have been strengthened given the heightened threat of invasion, State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko said at a briefing on Oct. 28.
"Ukraine’s border guards and defense forces in general pay maximum attention to these areas in order to prevent aggravation of the situation, escalation, and in case of escalation of the situation, to give the proper response," he said.
Demchenko said there have been no changes on the border with Belarus, and the situation is under control.
"The Armed Forces of Belarus continue their activities along the border with our country within Brest and Gomel oblasts," he said.
“The numerical composition (of the Belarusian army units) is not changing, nor is the nature of their actions.”
So far, there has been no direct creation of a strike group that could invade the territory of Ukraine from Belarus, but Belarus and Russia are pointedly increasing their forces in the country.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that amid the threat of a repeated offensive from Belarusian territory, Ukraine has already increased its forces in the northern border area.
